Sydney and Mallory went to pick up a donation from Stephen's Prom. Then, we finished organizing the dresses by size and began to saran wrap on our long day. Thursday morning they moved the dresses from NPI to NPJH. I came after school to help sort the dresses, along with many volunteers. When I got there a lot had been done, we just had a couple more boxes with dresses. The dresses were organized by color, size, and length. After that, I cut the saran wrap off of the wedding dresses and hung them up. On Friday, they finished up some last minute touches so that everything was ready for tomorrow. The Drive Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the drive. Although, Sydney said the drive went really well and lots of people came. There were also vendors for people to shop at and a silent auction. They were there for about 6 hours on the day of the drive. They were helping people look for the dresses they wanted and helped keep everything organized. We raised over $2,300 at the dress drive from Riley Children's Hospital and other various non-profit organizations. This Week We wrote thank you cards to the stores that had donated dresses to our drive. The Perfect Stitch, Bella Bridesmaids, and Stephen's Prom all donated dresses to make our drive possible. Also, we took the signs for the dress drive that were hanging around our school.

We first drove over to NPJH to get for advertising flyers for surrounding schools. On Tuesday, we drove to Greenfield and wanted to drop off some of our flyers. Unfortunately, they said we had to go to the corporate office and ask them, which we didn't have time for that day. On our e-learning day we all decided to go start sorting the dresses. We were told that the room was a disaster, so we were very anxious. At first glance the room wasn't that bad, but then we discovered the back half of the room which was very messy. We had to sort every rack because nothing was the same size. Although, it wasn't bad after we got started. We also went back to clean the room on our long day. Then, on Sunday Sydney and I drove to pick up dresses in Carmel from the Bella Bridesmaids owner. This Week We contacted all the dress stores that we hadn't heard back from. Although most went to voicemail, Stephen's Prom said they would donation some dresses to our drive. We are going to pick those dresses up on Friday. During homeroom and our long period we went to NPI to sort the dresses. We are almost done sorting, just have a couple of dress racks left. Overall, we have spent around 10 hours cleaning then dress room. Now we can move the dresses from NPI over to NPJH. Last Week Sydney Anderson, Mallory Barnes, and I decided we wanted to help with the dress drive back in December. After getting in connection with our contacts at the junior high, we were able to set up a meeting. At the meeting we got a run down of everything we needed to do and got the forms we need. They gave us papers about the history of the event, what the event is, and the flyer. We put all the papers and a business card, so we could be contacted, in envelopes. On Friday, we looked up places to ask to donate and created the business card. Although, I was out sick. This Week
On Monday, I hung up posters around NPHS for the dress drive, while Mallory found the location of the places we wanted to ask for donations. Throughout the rest of this week we delivered a lot of the envelopes to dress businesses. We delivered the envelopes together and individually. On Wednesday, we passed out flyers to local business, and then drove to Franklin and Carmel to give two stores the envelopes. On Thursday, after school, I drove to Fishers to drop off two more envelopes to prom and wedding shops. Today, I'm going to deliver an envelope to a wedding store in Broad Ripple. We also got very exciting new today... our first donation! The place we visited in Franklin offered to donate dresses to our drive. In addition, they know of another bridal store that is going out of business and said they would pass along the news. |
